When the recent war began on April 15, 2023 ZamZam IDP camp and other IDP camps throughout Darfur became the only safe place to flee. Since then, Darfur has been virtually cut off from any aid, international or otherwise. With 4 million people in the network we serve in ZamZam (2 million +) and the surrounding areas alone, and another 2 million in other areas we serve, you can make a difference today.
We have evacuated 5,000 families and have tens of thousands more to evacuate and sustain. As the war escalates, and the famine in Sudan threatens to kill 25 million people, more are counting on Sudanese-led humanitarian aid networks to survive. In ZamZam camp and Al Fashir city, which has been under siege for over a year, millions were and still are currently facing starvation. Our brothers and sisters, against all odds, work tirelessly to combat the effects of famine and genocide— rallying the community, leading volunteer and advocacy initiatives, educating our children, healing the injured and working tirelessly to nourish millions with very few resources; but we cannot do it alone. With your help, we can end help survivors and end this man-made famine now, ringing the alarm on countless unspeakable atrocities.
The urgency cannot be understated: more than 500,000 fled on April 13th, 2025, but by community counts on the ground, the number is in the millions. The wounded bleed out without care from gunshot wounds. We have moved some to hospital and are treating others in our three mobile clinics set up since the RSF attacks. We plan to set up a permanent clinic in Tawilah to meet the growing needs of the IDPs.
Since the start of the most recent war, women and girls have been repeatedly subjected to rape and now 12 million are at risk of facing sexual violence as a weapon of war. At the same time, women are the heads of household in many remaining families due to the brutal, indiscriminate killings that echo the early years of genocide in Darfur. Our sisters are thus forced to do all they can to ensure their families survive, and they are only subject to more torture as a result: When our sisters venture outward for food or supplies, they are often killed or subject to rape. During the ZamZam massacre, many were killed, tortured, and some kidnapped. Your donation can help mitigate the effects of this brutal war today.
